So as the COVID-19 lockdown drags on the inevitable happens and Championship Manager 97/98 gets dusted off once more. The impetus this time, as usual comes in the from of Dave Black from www.cm9798.wordpress.com who, along with his regular contributors has come up with a list of CM97/98 challenges to help pass the time. These challenges can be viewed here if you need inspiration of your own.
The challenge I have chosen to undertake is ‘All Abroad’. The aim of this is to choose a club and then only sign players from one nation whilst still achieving some form of success. As you may be able to deduce from the title of this post the team I have chosen is Newcastle and the nationality of player I’m allowed to sign is French. For those out of the know a quick summary is that Newcastle’s former head scout Graham Carr (father of bespectacled comic Alan) rather famously was an absolute pervert for bringing French players to the Toon.

There is seemingly no extra rules placed on this challenge. But to keep things spicy I have foisted one upon myself. Until my squad is 100% French, any offer for a non-French player must be accepted no matter the price. (I have a feeling this is gonna bite me in the arse)
So this is the Newcastle squad as it stands
